Teething Woes

BabyR 15 months is cutting 4 big molars poor wee lad. Although they don't seem to bother him too much when he is awake and busy, they do seem to be disturbing his sleep, causing him a lot of discomfort.

Consequently this is disrupting my sleep and causing me some discomfort too as BabyR is spending half the night sleeping on my chest just like when he was a new born after waking distraught in the middle of the night after the Paracetomol has worn off . When he wakes likes this he doesn't want anything but Mama and even then I can't always help him all that much. Not even his much loved dummy is wanted. (Mind you we have been wanting to wean him from his dummy anyway so not wanting it isn't really a bad thing.) I have even sewed him a special cuddly blanky in the hopes of transferring his affection for his dummy to a blanky instead.

He also seems to be off his food a bit which is a pity as he had just started to really enjoy food but now is back to wanting to nurse in the night which is something he was finally out of the habit of doing before these teeth started worrying him.

As a teething aid my sister swears by amber teething beads but I am not so sure as I prefer to stay away from things until I am sure of what they are and how they work exactly and whether or not as a Christian I feel they are an acceptable option. I am researching the for myself at the moment and also seeking the opinions of others.

Aside from his teething woes BabyR is typically keeping us all entertained. He found some of my dh old boxing gloves the other day and had fun boxing his sister MissM8.

We went to the Library today and there was another toddler there a few months older than BabyR. He and BabyR had fun following each other around all the book shelves until BabyR being a very physically affectionate child surprised the other wee lad with an impromptu hug. The poor wee tot took off at a run and hid behind his grandmother's skirt obviously not used to sudden outpouring of affection from complete strangers. LOL

After the Library we had a play in the park next door. BabyR and his Cousin MissP10 were walking across a swinging bridge on the play structure when BabyR tripped and fell flat on his tummy. He made a bit of a fuss and needed a mummy cuddle but then wanted to go back and have another go at crossing the bridge by himself. However on the way he passed another little girl about the same age as his cousin to he grabbed hold of her legs for another impromptu hug. It was very cute and this time the little girl was more than happy to hug him back. He then made it all the way across the bridge by himself an was very proud making sure everyone saw him clapping at his achievement. LOL

Needless to say he was pretty exhausted after that morning so we headed home for nap time.
